Laurene Oosthuizen is a Recruitment Consultant and a very social person. She easily makes connections with people. Her friendly and open attitude, which comes naturally to her, puts people at ease. When asked what she is proud of, she answered, "too much to mention." But one that stands out is her contribution to a successful sales season at her previous employer, an international fashion brand. "According to the predictions, it was not going to be a great season. But then South Africa came in with orders that exceeded all expectations. I had zero experience in sales in the fashion industry. The fact that I was entrusted with a big account, which I was solely responsible for and which I did with great success, is something I'm very proud of. The fact that the orders came from South Africa, the country where I come from, was the icing on the cake."
When Laurene is painting and listening to music, she can completely lose herself in her own world. "Then my husband occasionally taps me on the shoulder to ask me to sing more softly. Because the children are sleeping." She loves watching people play the piano. She played it herself when she was young, but she stopped to focus on sports. "It's still on my bucket list to be able to play the piano without looking at sheet music.There's so much emotion connected to playing the piano, I love it."
She found the 'mind body spirit' course she took in South Africa very inspiring. "I have personally experienced the insight that emotions and feelings can manifest themselves physically. I try to be aware of that. Because knowledge is power, my father taught me that on my 21st birthday." She thinks it's important for people to feel comfortable around her. So she always tries to treat people the way she wants to be treated herself.
