Warning about Job Scams!
In recent weeks, there has been an increase in reports of fake job offers from recruitment agencies. The fraud primarily revolves around offering remote work opportunities. Additionally, the name of Projob BV is often misused. The individuals or candidates being approached are not associated with Projob. If there happens to be any familiarity with or connection to Projob, it is purely coincidental.
Here are the key characteristics:
- Promises of working minimal hours for an exceptionally high salary.
- No educational or experiential requirements, but proficiency in computer skills and access to a computer or phone are necessary.
- Minimal to no involvement in a formal application process.
- Lack of personal contact with the company.
- Victims are asked to transfer money to the 'employer,' often to a Bitcoin account.
- The 'employer' uses webmail addresses such as @hotmail.com, @gmail.com and reaches out to candidates through channels like Telegram or WhatsApp.
Projob advises individuals to remain vigilant against job scams. This can be done by:
- Verifying the legitimacy of the intermediary. If in doubt, always reach out to the intermediary directly. Projob always contacts individuals personally and uses official email addresses or platforms.
- Exercising caution when sharing personal information. Refrain from providing financial details, BSN (social security number), or any other confidential information before receiving a formal offer.
- Verifying communication channels and paying attention to signs such as the use of Telegram, WhatsApp with anonymous senders, unusual email addresses, and more.
- Being cautious of unusual payment requests. Be wary if an employer asks for money transfers, upfront payments for training or certification, or requests for personal financial information. Legitimate employers will never ask for payment in order to secure employment.
